Several assessments described below are available to help you learn about yourself and the world of work. Assessments won't be able to tell you what you should "be" or "do" but they can provide valuable clues that may help you with the career decision-making process. Please be sure to talk with your Career Consultant to make the best use of the clues you gather!
Georgia Career Information System (GCIS) allows you to do a number of things. First you can sort 21 occupational characteristics that are important to many people selecting careers and view a related list of occupations for you to explore further. Secondly, you can look up information on careers, including projected employment outlooks for Georgia and entry/average wages for Georgia compared with the U.S. GCIS is available to educational institutions throughout Georgia. You can access this resource from UGA's on-campus computers at: http://www.gcic.peachnet.edu/
FOCUS 2 is a tool that helps you assess your interests, values, skills, etc. and then helps you identify and analyze possible occupations and career paths that match your personal characteristics. After receiving the "Institution Keycode" from the Career Center, you may take the assessment on-line at: http://www.focuscareer2.com/Portal/Register.cfm?SID=486

TypeFocus is an interactive online program that helps you assess your personality type strengths, explore options, and develop career plans. After receiving a special SITE password from a Career Center staff member, you may access this resource from any online computer by going to the following URL: http://careers.typefocus.com
Strong Interest Inventory provides access to more in-depth understanding of your career interest. This assessment requires a one-on-one meeting with your Career Consultant and is available online for a nominal fee of $25 per assessment. You may pay (Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm) by cash, Visa, MC, or American Express. To pay by cash or credit card please see Penny Benton (Room 264, Clark Howell Hall). After you have paid for the assessment, go to http://online.cpp-db.com and use the special login and password given to you by your Career Consultant or another Career Center staff member. (Note: You do not need to type in a User ID to take the assessments - please leave that box blank)
Your Career Consultant will help interpret personalized reports that are generated by taking these assessments.
